Child’s version of Revelations: The New Heavens and the New Earth

Inspired by Revelations: The New Jerusalem
“I promise you there will be a land where there are rainbows and smiles, no more tears anymore. There will be candies, kindness and peace. You will have a white snow-like robe and a golden crown. There will be no fear of beatings, of extra homework and curfews. Instead, your hamster will lie with your cat fearlessly. You shall dance with the Lamb and sing with the angels. You will see God in the throne room and you will worship Him happily everyday,”so said the little elf from the woods.

Here’s an effort to practise relaying symbolism and imagery from Revelations in a different way.

Image of God

On the weekend of my birthday, I received a revelation from God – what it meant to be created in the image of God. It was an answer to a recent question that has been surfacing in my mind with regards to the topics “Human self-development and the work place” and “humanity” and “evolution”.

As an arts student, I have preferred to be a humanist. (Roughly speaking, Humanism is a group of philosophies and ethical perspectives which emphasize the value and agency of human beings, individually and collectively, and generally prefers individual thought and evidence (rationalism, empiricism) over established doctrine or faith (fideism).) This has especially been so since I entered the workplace. But there is a type of humanisim that embraces christianity

Experiencing how people behave at work full time,it has led me to think of people as glorious self-made constructions, or as  organisms with a selfish agenda. Two opposites. that just goes by humanistic assumptions, which much of secular society goes by. However, I still had a question “who are we, really” and it was in my subconscious.

I have always read the verse “created in the image of God” and just understood it surface value. but now i understand better what it means. we are created to be LIKE GOD – that means having the kind of worth, glory and honour that goes along with it. we have God’s attributes – love, holiness, grace, mercy, justice, righteousness, creativity, diligence and so on.

Isn’t it wonderful to have been created in the image of God? Instead of being slaves at the workplace, we have the worth of God-like status. Instead of being cogs in a machine,we have the moral attributes of God designed in us. Instead of being money hungry evolutionary beings, we are crowned with glory.

well, just happyabout the answer to the question “Who am I”.

Freedom

Democracy gives us freedom from restrictions,to have freedom in action.
Investing gives us freedom from money, to have freedom in life.
Medical discoveries give us freedom from illnesses,to have freedom in our bodies.

Jesus Christ gives us freedom from sin, to have freedom to be like Him.

Which is the best kind of freedom?

God, make me beautiful

God,

make me beautiful as Eden,

as the 7-day creation,

before Adam and Eve disobeyed,

and sin entered the world.

God,

make me beautiful,

as the love marks on your palms,

the crown of thorns on your head,

and the empty grave which you once lay.

God,

make me beautiful as heaven,

like the holiness of the saints,

like the new heaven and new earth.

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”- 1 Peter 3:3-4

He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.” – Col 1:15-21

My Lord Jesus Christ,
I believe that You are really here in this Sacrament.
Night and day You remain here compassionate and loving.
You call, You wait for,
You welcome everyone who comes to visit You.
I thank You, Jesus my Divine Redeemer
for coming upon the earth for our sake
and for instituting the Adorable Sacrament of the Holy
Eucharist
in order to remain with us until the end of the world.
I thank You for hiding beneath the Eucharistic species
Your infinite majesty and beauty,
which Your Angels delight to behold,
so that I might have courage to approach the throne of
Your mercy.
I thank You dear Jesus,
for having become the priceless Victim,
to merit for me the fullness of heavenly favors.
Awaken in me such confidence in You
that their fullness may descend ever more fruitfully upon
my soul.
I thank You for offering Yourself
in thanksgiving to God for all His benefits,
spiritual and temporal
which He has bestowed on me.
Grant me grace and perseverance in your faithful service.

Amen.
